Order for quality assurance in the production of hydrogen and e-fuels received

Hydrogen is a key technology for the future which is of great importance, especially in conjunction with the expansion of renewable energies. Hydrogen can be produced at any time, the hydrogen produced can be stored temporarily and used when it is needed. The necessary technologies are already well advanced in their development and will continue to improve in the coming years.

Another technology to temporarily store the yields of renewable power generation is synthetic fuels, also called e-fuels. While these e-fuels behave almost completely identically in use to high-performance fuels already available at filling stations, the production of e-fuels requires virtually no fossil source products. E-fuels are balanced in their CO2 balance. Although pure electric drives for small vehicles are and will remain far more efficient, e-fuels are of considerable importance for trucks and air traffic in which large amounts of energy have to be carried and the use of batteries remains difficult.

On January 18, 2023, Solarius received an important order for quality assurance in the production of hydrogen and e-fuels.

Fully automatic 2D/3D metrology and inspection system for cell culture plates

In January 2022, a fully automatic combined 2D/3D metrology and inspection system for the quality assurance of  cell culture plates was released for shipment. The system is the first in row for a global supplier of medical equipment. The cell culture plates become monitored for geometric and dimensional parameters as well as for defects and debris.

Cell culture plates are used for a wide variety of microbiological operations. Typical applications are cell cultivation or screening of technical bioreactions. Due to the large number of wells and the use of identical types, cell culture plates are suitable for cultivation and for tests with large numbers of samples.

Within the project, the Solarius SolarCore software platform was enhanced by a fully generic interface for the MvTec Halcon image processing libraries. This optional interface allows full flexibility in image processing by experienced customers who want to keep in full control of their Q&A process while relying on the automation and integration experience of Solarius. Custom Halcon image processing will run inside the entire process monitoring and fab automation capabilities of Solarius, including SECS/GEM and OPC/UA.

Fully automatic, FDA 21 CFR compliant 3D wafer inspection for medical technology

In February 2020 already, a 3D wafer inspection system of the new Solarius SIMP process platform was delivered to the German MedTech innovator Boehringer Ingelheim microParts. After the delivery was completed, the tool now is ready for the final validation of productive use. Following the installation of a SECS/GEM integrated 300 millimeter wafer inspection system in Taiwan in December 2019, the completion of this order is another milestone in the strategic direction of the Solarius Group.

Boehringer Ingelheim microParts GmbH manufactures the RESPIMAT® product portfolio at the Dortmund location. The RESPIMAT® is a propellant-free pocket inhaler that has been available in a reusable version since 2019. With a production capacity of 45 million inhalation devices per year, the subsidiary ensures the supply of the global market exclusively for the researching pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim.

Solarius Europe enables Boehringer Ingelheim microParts to ensure quality assurance and process control through fast, non-contact 3D measurement and inspection technology, thereby setting new standards in accuracy and precision that can be achieved with optical 3D technologies, while at the same time significantly reducing process times. In addition to the high standards of medical technology, Solarius, with nanometer-precise resolution on lateral structures in the single-digit micrometer range, meets previously unattained requirements for process stability in the optical 3D measurement of technical surfaces and structures.

Solarius Europe

Already on May 21, 2019, the Solarius Group received another strategically important order from a top 3 semiconductor foundry for the optical inspection of wafers. Under the terms of the contract, Solarius Europe will supply a fully automated 300 mm wafer inspection system for the manufacture of complex wafer-based optical elements according to international hardware and automatization standards (SEMI, SECS/GEM). The inspection system was designed and provided by Solarius Europe and is installed and maintained by Solarius Asia in Taiwan. With the delivery, Solarius continues to join the semiconductor industry, making the entire technology portfolio available for fully automated 300 mm production environments. The experienced service and support team at Solarius Asia guarantees smooth operation and immediate availability for the customer on site.
