The conversion of hydrogen into electricity by means of fuel cells is becoming increasingly important, both for automobility and for real estate and emergency power supplies. In addition, hydrogen is ideally suited as a decentralized storage facility in the context of electricity generation using wind power or solar systems. This not only enables the climate-neutral generation of electrical energy - the burning of hydrogen in fuel cells only produces pure water - but it also enables the intermediate storage of energy. Since solar and wind power plants, unlike conventional power plants, cannot simply be adjusted to the current energy demand, the solution to the storage problem is of central importance.

Solarius is convinced of the future of hydrogen technology and has been cooperating with leading companies in fuel cell development and production for several years. In this context, the revised version of the AOP Custom TTV for the measurement of bipolar plates was created, using two precision-aligned non-contact sensors. This measurement approach is extremely fast and accurate and allows measuring the thickness of one or more layers on an object from both sides. For the dual-sensor thickness measurement, each side of the part is measured simultaneously, and the difference of measurements from the two sensors provides the final thickness measurement.

The AOP-Thickness platform is equipped with a high precision XY stage with a measurement range up to 400 mm x 400 mm. Two high speed line or point sensors enable height measuring ranges between 2 mm and 145 mm with vertical resolutions of 0.2 µm up to 5 µm. Solarius SolarScan software provides automation features as well as customized recipes. The modular system design offers the highest flexibility for customized analysis tools.
