        The goal is to evaluate the form and volume in the thick film wet state in order to determine if further processes should take place. Thick film surface features such as, the depth of laser cut fissures to trim resistor values or the roughness and form of etched or evaporated layers, may need to be measured as well. This is in an effort to maintain and control device performance and uniformity. Assuring quality should also coincide with cost-effectiveness and less time consumption for the manufacturer.

        The Solution

         

        Both measurement and data analysis may run as part of automated sequence of steps setup as a list of system commands or by performing measurement and evaluation steps manually in a teaching mode. Use of a template guarantees identical evaluation conditions for each surface measured.

        The Solarius Viking system is the ideal solution for measurements of conductive ink either wet or dry on ceramic surfaces. Measurements can be performed before or after the component has been fired. The Viking uses a point laser sensor, for a non-contact 2D or 3D measurement of the surface topography. Innovative sensors and modular software allow for a fast, automated measurement of film thickness and other production parameters including freshly printed paste.
